The holiday season is already ramping up here on Oahu! And we’re grateful that there are so many wonderful things to do on the island to celebrate! From festivals and parades to educational events and unique shopping experiences, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy in November!
Hawaii International Film Festival
The Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF) is back and better than ever! This festival is the place to go to see feature films, shorts, and series from all over the world but focusing primarily on Asia and the Pacific. Enjoy talks from filmmakers and industry professionals on a variety of topics including festival submission strategy. The festival will be offered online from November 3 – 27 and on Oahu from November 3 – 13.
76th Annual Wahiamwa Lions Veteran’s Day Parade
Honor our local veterans at the 76th Annual Wahiamwa Lions Veteran’s Day Parade on November 11 at 10 am. This beloved local parade features more than 80 marching military units and bands, including the Royal Hawaiian Band. The parade begins at Ka’ala Elementary School and ends at the Wahiamwa District Park. After the parade, stick around for ceremonies and festivities at the park.
Made in Hawaii Festival
Buy Hawaii, for Hawaii at the Made in Hawaii Festival! Happening from Friday, November 11 through Sunday, November 13, at the Ala Moana Center, you can enjoy shopping from nearly 400 vendors selling a huge variety of locally-made products. While there, take in some live entertainment from award-winning acts such as Jerry Santos and Kamuela Kimokeo. This is a wonderful place to get a head start on all your holiday shopping.
O Ke Kai Series 2022
Learn all about Hawaii’s wonderful canoes at the O Ke Kai Series 2022. This fascinating event takes place on November 12, from 9 am to 1:30 pm at the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort. It showcases the Hawaiian traditions of building, caring for, and restoring canoes. View a 100-year-old outrigger canoe and many other items that will be on display.
Thanksgiving Rock-A-Hula Show
Celebrate Thanksgiving Vegas-style at the Thanksgiving Rock-A-Hula Show at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. Shows will be presented from November 19 – 27 and feature a Vegas-style production with a Hawaiian twist presenting hits from Elvis Presley, Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, and more. General admission starts at $55 for adults; various packages are also available.
Waikiki Holiday Parade
Finally, round out the month by watching the Waikiki Holiday Parade on November 25. This wonderful local tradition commemorates Pearl Harbor and honors veterans and the survivors of the attack on December 7, 1941. Enjoy local Hawaiian bands, marching bands, local officials, dignitaries, and military units as they march down Kalakaua Avenue along Waikiki Beach.
