Hop Into Fun on Oahu in April

Spring is in full swing here on Oahu! April is a wonderful time to experience Oahu’s exceptional weather and the month is chock-full of fun events! Whether you want to take selfies with the Easter Bunny, try your hand at making your very own lei, or even travel to Scotland for the afternoon, you’ll certainly find many reasons to celebrate in the coming weeks. What’s your favorite springtime activity on the island?

Free Lei-Making Workshops

Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own leis? Well, now you can! Several free lei-making workshops will be offered in various locations during the month of April. This is all leading up to the Lei Day Celebration on May 1. Participants are instructed to bring flowers with three-inch stems, green leaves, an aluminum pan, a water spray bottle, thread, and scissors. All participants will be encouraged to enter their leis in the upcoming Lei Day Celebration.

40th Hawaiian Scottish Festival & Highland Games

Celebrate the history and heritage of the Scots in Hawaii at the 40th Hawaiian Scottish Festival & Highland Games! Happening on April 1 and 2 from 9 am to 4 pm at Jefferson Elementary School, this festival is always a crowd-pleaser! Hosted by the Hawaiian Scottish Association, this event includes Highland games and sports, live music, a Highland Dance competition, swordplay, fencing, Scottish Country dance demonstrations, and bagpipes. You can also shop for Celtic clothing, Scottish wear, housewares, musical instruments, jewelry, food, and more!

Easter Festival

The Hawai Kai Towne Center is hosting a very “hoppy” Easter celebration this year! On Saturday, April 8, at 1 pm bring your ohana to their Marina Docks to celebrate. Visitors can have their pictures taken with the Easter Bunny and enjoy prizes, giveaways, and balloon animals. This event is perfect for the whole family to enjoy!

Bunny Bash

Another fun Easter celebration is scheduled at the SALT on Sunday, April 9, from 2 – 4 pm. Our Kaka’ako Bunny Bash is a fun-filled, family-friendly festival with Keiki crafts in The Barn and a selfie station with the Easter Bunny! Bring your own camera and take pictures free of charge. Even better – the whole event is free!

Hapalua – Hawaii’s Half Marathon

Lace-up those running shoes and join the Hapalua – Hawaii’s half marathon! This is the largest half marathon in Hawaii and begins in Waikiki as the sun comes up at 6 am. The gorgeous course winds through Honolulu and around Diamond Head and finishes at the Aloha Market Place. Take all the time you need to finish the course and enjoy fresh malasadas and shave ice at the finish line! This is the perfect way to burn off those calories from all those delicious Easter treats!
