Situated just south of Waikiki just past the Honolulu Zoo, the Diamond Head neighborhood contains some of the most sought after real estate on the island. In fact, the top of the Diamond Head Crater is accessible via a popular hiking trail that starts within the neighborhood. At the same time, the Diamond Head neighborhood is known for offering a calm, serene place to live with access to some of the city’s best beaches. 

For those who like to socialize, the elite Outrigger Canoe Club is also situated within the neighborhood. Meanwhile, Kapiolani Park offers an outdoor concert venue, an archery range and public tennis courts. 

The Amenities of Waikiki

While the neighborhood of Diamond Head is quiet and peaceful, it also remains conveniently close to Waikiki as well as Kahala. As such, you don’t have far to travel to enjoy a wide variety of dining and shopping opportunities. Due to regulations surrounding the State Monument and Historic Landmark of Diamond Head itself, few of these amenities are found within the neighborhood itself. Yet, just a short drive or even a short walk will put you directly in the presence of all of the amenities you could desire. Public Transportation is also easily accessible from Diamond Head.

Schools of Diamond Head

The Diamond Head neighborhood is served by Waikiki Elementary, which is one of the highest-rated schools in Hawaii. It is also served by Kaimuki Middle school, which is rated in the top three percent of Hawaii middle schools. Unity School, which serves kids from ages one through five, and Le Pietra School for girls in grades six through twelve are also located in the neighborhood.

Homes in Diamond Head range from charming historic homes on smaller lots to grand estates. Many offer spectacular views of the ocean, Koolau mountains or Waikiki skyline. As a designated Special District, numerous regulations are set in place regarding construction within the neighborhood. Therefore, when purchasing a home within the Diamond Head neighborhood, you can remain relatively certain that not much will change over time. With homes rarely coming on the market within the neighborhood, however, you may struggle to find one available for purchase.
