Hawaii is home to some of the best golf courses in the country, with Oahu being a particularly great place to golf. In fact, with so many golf courses on the island, the most difficult part is choosing where to go. Hawaii Prince Golf Club
Situated on 270 acres of land on Ewa Beach, the Hawaii Prince Golf Club boasts a 27-hole layout that is about a half hour from downtown Honolulu. The three nine-hole courses can be intermixed to make 18 holes, helping to keep the flow moving while allowing golfers to switch things up for new challenges. The property also boasts an impressive grass driving range, a club house, and practice chipping greens and sand bunkers. Meanwhile, the course offers views of the Waianae Mountains and 10 strategically placed lakes. The course is located at 91-1200 Fort Weaver Road in Ewa Beach.
Ko Olina Golf Club
Situated on the 642-acre Ko Olina Resort & Marina on the sunny side of the island, the championship golf course of Ko Olina is host to an LPGA Tour event. About 45 minutes from Honolulu and Waikiki, the challenging course was designed by architect Ted Robinson. Features include multi-tiered greens, rolling hill fairways, eye-catching water features, nicely elevated tee box greens and generous landing areas.
Ko Olina Resort & Marina itself is one of Oahu’s premier oceanfront resort communities. With its location on the westside tip of Oahu near Barbers Point, the community offers nearly 7,000 yards of prime green real estate along with an award-winning restaurant from chef Roy Yamaguchi. Makaha Valley Golf Club
Ranked the number one course in Oahu by a variety of different sources, the Makaha Valley Golf Club is the farthest northwest golf course on the island. Designed by William Bell, the course rests on the top of a hillside in Makaha Valley where it offers magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean and the volcanic mountainside. The course, which has a USGA ranking of 69.6 in difficulty, is located at 84-627 Makaha Valley Road in Waianae.
Olomana Golf Links
Known for being the golf course where Barack Obama grew up playing the game, the Olomana Golf Links still host the former president from time to time. Designed with a high level of difficulty, the 18-hole course offers a par 72 challenge with several water hazards and sand traps. Hawaii’s natural beauty is on full display at this lovely course, which boasts the Ko’olau mountain range as a backdrop. The course is located at 41-1801 Kalanianaole Highway in Waimanalo.
Turtle Bay – Palmer Course
Located near the tip of the north shore of Oahu, Turtle Bay resort boasts 36 holes of championship golf within 900 acres of oceanfront property. With the Palmer Course being designed by the legendary Arnold Palmer. This course features weaving holes meandering through natural wetlands next to dense Hawaiian jungle. Also known as the Links of Kuilima, the course has hosted the PGA and the LPGA SBS Open. The course is located at 57-019 Kamehameha Highway in Kahuku.
